About

 Thanks for stopping by! $

I'm Angela. I am: a 26-year-old, daughter, sister, pet parent, granddaughter, niece, cousin, friend, school counselor, coffee lover, and avid shopper. As you may have figured out by that list so far, family comes first for me.

My heart belongs to these two

Next on my list of "important things" is my career and education. Since starting this blog, I have finished my Masters degree in School Counseling and been hired as a School Counselor. I work for the school district in which I attended grades K-12. My weekends are spent with family and friends, doing some relaxing, and indulging in my passions which include shopping, reading good books, watching movies, spending time with my dog, and other things.

Proud pet parent to the cutest dog in the world.

I grew up in Fort Myers, FL and am a true Florida girl. Cold weather does not suit me well. I am meant to live in a place that is sunny year-round, where you can go to the beach {and feel comfortable} in the middle of winter. The beach is one of my most favorite places to be. At the same time, I love to be out in the country. I grew up running around cow pastures and having picnics in fallen down trees with my grandma and little brother. Country music soothes my soul.

Some more fun facts:
  • Except for the 4 years I spent in college, I have lived in the same house since I was 2 weeks old. Additional note: I lived in a different place each year in college. I guess it was all the time I spent not moving that made me want to move a lot. It's out of my system now.
  • I'm part German, and a little bit of Cherokee Indian and Seminole Indian.
  • I'm a very petite 5'2"...okay, that is a lie. When they measure me at the doctor, I'm just under 5'2" but I think it's okay to round up.
  • I love horror movies but I am terrified of the dark. I refuse to go outside when the sun goes completely down. Unless I am already out before it gets dark. Then, oddly enough, I am totally fine.

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Family and Child Sciences in May 2010 from The Florida State University. I am proud to be a Seminole! I began education in my Masters degree in School Counseling immediately after graduating, in the fall of 2010 and graduate in May of 2013 from Florida Gulf Coast University.

My career as a School Counselor officially started in August 2013 and I love every minute of every day being a School Counselor. When I finished graduate school, working in a high school was my last choice, but the first place I was hired. Now, I couldn't imagine working with a different grade level. I truly enjoy the conversations I can have with my students who are nearing adulthood and trying to discover their path in life.

I love being Ms. Higginbotham!
(or Ms. Higgin-awesome, as my first graduating class nick-named me)

Adventures to Remember is a lifestyle blog. Posts are focused on the topics of school counseling, education, fashion, family, and life in general, among many other things. I created this blog in January of 2013 originally in order to complete a school assignment but hope, and plan, for it to be much more than that.

In my posts, I will share what advice I have to offer about those things which I am most interested. My blog is a place for me to share information that I consider to be important and hopefully to provide inspiration and encouragement for my audience.

I view life as a big adventure, with constant ups and downs. It is inevitable that there will be good days and bad days. Life is short, so I think we should cherish every moment. As a graduate student, more than ever, I have seen these ups and downs during my internships. One of my favorite quotes says it all "An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backwards So when life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means that it's going to launch you into something great."
My theory is, you might as well hold on tight and enjoy the ride [
