Awkward

Episode: Rubbed Raw and Reeling

Okay, I'm a little embarrassed to admit that I watch this show but it's one of those guilty pleasure ones for me. Much like The Vampire Diaries and Pretty Little Liars. It's a show about high schoolers but I could almost care less because it cracks me up. When it first came on TV, my friend M and I were obsessed. Awkward was a regular phase in our vocabulary. I've been watching it since day one. I've been through the Matty-Jenna drama, the letter drama, the Jake-Jenna relationship, and every other crazy thing that goes on in this show. I really wanted Jenna to stay with Jake. I liked them together. But I like Matty too. He's the bad boy turned good, and I'm a sucker for them.

In this episode, Jenna is selected by her teacher to read something she has written at Bean There Done That - a local coffee shop - and awkward surprise, her parents show up. Val (my guidance counselor role model) comes to the rescue when Jenna gets nervous and she is about to bail when she sees her teacher hanging out in the back and realizes she can't. She finally gets up to read: about how she lost her virginity. And who else is in the crowd, but lovely Sadie. Sadie is sort of my idol too purely because of how witty she is. "You're welcome" is by far my favorite catch phrase. After her reading, Jenna decides to spend some quality time with Colin. I'm not sure how I feel about him yet but I feel like he is the mature guy Jenna needs and something is bound to happen between the two of them. I love that he suggests he is "over it" with his girlfriend and her non-responsive response. Silence sometimes says more than words. I'm excited to see what happens between J + M this week.

I also watched the premiere of The Bachelorette. I had to skip this week's episode and save it for DVR watching tomorrow.

I'm also excited about catching up on the Teen Wolf premiere and next week PRETTY LITTLE LIARS.

Join in on the fun!

So, last week was the week of season finales. I don't know why the television channels have decided to do this but they have put my favorite shows all on Thursday nights. Thank God for DVR and streaming episodes online/on my iPhone because otherwise I wouldn't survive.

SPOILER ALERT!

My three favorites from last week are:

1. Grey's Anatomy

This season has had so many ups and downs. Thankfully, it feels like more ups. I'm so happy Meredith + Derek finally have offspring together. I think that's going to be one gorgeous kid. Especially with McDreamy's hair. Fingers crossed he inherits that! Meredith said something that was just so fitting in this episode, I had to write it down (in reference to performing her C-section) "The big ugly scary risks, because I'm a lightning rod for those!" Seriously. She doesn't seem like that bad of a person who deserves some karma to come her way but I feel like she has bad juju all around. Poor woman. Can she just have her happily ever after now? I'm really happy Alex and intern girl (Jo?) are ending up together. I feel like he deserves some happiness too. Then there was the inevitable WTF moment the producers like to throw in there with cheating (excuse my language) whore Arizona! I have a hint of a feeling that Callie will ditch her and end up with a guy again. It seems like she goes back and forth like that. I can't wait for the next season. My predictions are: Christina + Owen are going to end up with a kid, Bailey is going to end up with another kid,  Jackson and April will end up together, and then regarding the other WTF moment at the end, is Richard really dead?! Please, no. He's the glue that holds that place together.

2. The Vampire Diaries

This show is my guilty pleasure. Well, one of them. Mind. Blown. Seriously, what the hey! This was another finale with many ups and downs. I've been pulling for Elena to get her humanity back for quite some time. I'm so glad Jeremy is alive but not happy that Bonnie basically had to sacrifice herself for him to return to the world of the living. I'm interested to see how that plays out, as I feel she will obviously still be a part of the show (someone correct me if sources say otherwise) since he can see/talk to ghosts. I really can't believe that Elena is ending up with Damon. Wrong, wrong, wrong - in my opinion. I think Stefan is her true love and I'm still pulling for them next season. She has to be the first to realize that Silas isn't really Stefan. How crazy was that twist?! The guy who loved/loves the doppelganger is actually a doppelganger himself! Stefan can't die. I won't allow it to happen! And don't let me forget that Katherine is now human since Elena shoved the cure down her throat. Can't wait to see how that plays out! She is obviously going to be miserable. I wonder if she can be turned back into a vampire now, and if she can, if any of them will do it for her. I feel like she can't survive as a human, but it's going to be bad news for all of them, especially Elena, if she returns to being a vampire. Another thought that crossed my mind is Jeremy will want to be turned. Not sure why that's come into my head. I can't wait for Tyler to return either. I'm also looking forward to the preview that was shown after the episode ended for The Originals. I have a feeling Caroline's character will be making an appearance there. I think her and Klaus could work but he's got some changing to do for that to happen.

3. The Office

Okay, I'll be the first one to say that I cried. The Jim and Pam love story gets me every time. I'm also happy Dwight and Angela finally ended up together. I love that Michael returned! I think this was the perfect time to end the series though. I missed a good number of episodes in the previous 2 seasons. I sort of lost interest in it for a while there and I couldn't see it going much further anywhere. Thank you for some good laughs and good cries. What a series.

Feeling special

I have been working my butt off on fixing up my blog and trying to grow it and I feel the hard work paying off. My schedule is jam-packed. Every day of the week I am at my internship site. Two nights a week, I have class. On the weekends I usually work on school work or curriculum to use at the middle school. Occasionally, I see some friends and family. Point is: I really don't have time to blog but I am loving it so much that I'm fitting it in as much as possible.

So, this weekend, wonderful Miss Ashley nominated me for the Liebster Award and I was beyond excited. Thank you, Ashley, for noticing me!

The rules are as follows:
Give 11 random facts about yourself
Answer the 11 questions asked
Leave a link back to the blogger that nominated you
Nominate bloggers with less than 200 followers and let them know they've been picked
Write 11 questions for them to answer

11 random facts about me

1. I am the older child.
2. I am exactly 10 years younger than my older cousin, and exactly 10 years older than my younger cousin, in my Dad's side of the family.
3. I play tennis, and played competitively from ages 11-17.
4. I have called the same place home since I was 2 weeks old. The only other place I have ever lived is Tallahassee, FL and I do consider it my second home but it's not truly home because my family lives nowhere close to there.
5. I broke my finger when I was in the 4th grade. That is *knock on wood* the only bone I have ever broken.
6. I graduated high school with an IB diploma and because of this, was able to start my freshman year of college with 30 credits, technically making me a sophomore on day 1.
7. I have owned 2 cars in my lifetime - both Toyota Corolla's.
8. My oldest best friend (10+ years) is a guy.
9. I have a cow.
10. There is a road named after my family, and my last name is very unique.
11. I have never switched schools. Except for the natural transitions from elementary to middle school, middle school to high school, high school to college, and college to grad school.

My responses to Ashley's questions

1. What is your dream city to live in?
Anywhere by the beach. I do think it would be neat to live in Chicago, or somewhere in California, or North Carolina though.
2. What is your all-time favorite TV show?
I would have to pick FRIENDS as an all-time favorite. I love TV though so it was a really hard decision to choose one, but that show literally covers everything that is wild and crazy and I love it. Such a classic.
3. What's your favorite candy?
Depending on my mood: dark chocolate, though because of its health benefits I don't consider it candy. I love me some Sour Patch Kids when I really want to be bad.
4. Gold or silver?
I've worn silver most of my life but lately gold is growing on me.
5. You're a contestant on a reality TV show - which show would it be?
The Bachelor/Bachelorette.
6. What's your biggest pet peeve?
Negativity. I HATE (not to be negative, lol) when people focus on everything that's negative. I'm definitely an optimist.
7. Favorite ice cream flavor?
Chocolate.
8. Which celebrity would you like to have a coffee date with?
Female celebrity: Emma Stone, Anna Kendrick, or Rachel McAdams. I could totally be friends with any them. Male celebrity: Ryan Gosling, Skylar Astin, or Josh Hutcherson. Or all three. The men, not the ladies.
9. Are you an introvert or an extrovert?
It's funny because for most of my life I have considered myself an introvert until about 4-5 years ago, I think something changed, and I tend to be more of an extrovert. Maybe it has to do with what I'm studying to do. As a school counselor, it would be tough to be an introvert. If I take a personality test though, such as Myers-Briggs, I come out about 49% extrovert and 51% introvert. I think it depends on the situation I'm in and who I'm with too.
10. Do you speak any languages other than English? If not, what would you like to speak?
I speak some Spanish but nowhere near being fluent. That's a goal of mine - to become fluent in Spanish. I would also like to learn German. My grandma was born in Germany and lived there during WWII and I have always wanted to visit.
11. If you're looking online for a good recipe, where is the first place you go?
Pinterest - and usually to my Recipes boards first. I've got a ton of recipes pinned that I have not yet made. If I can't find something there, then I start searching on Pinterest.

Who I'm nominating:

1. Kalie at With Style and Grace
2. Erin at erinecarter
3. Elisabeth at Diary of a Wannabe Southern Belle
4. Emily at Little Country Blonde
5. Sarah at A Pinch of Paisley
6. Beth at Clothes and Cocktails
7. Sarah at A Girl Smitten
8. Missy at Color That
9. Taylor at Confessions of a Busy, Busy Bee
10. Alexis at Following the Compass
11. Jayme at The Simple, Sweet Life

Questions for nominees

1. What is your favorite color?
2. What is your dream job?
3. Beach, mountains, or country?
4. If you could go to a "magical" prom tomorrow, what celebrity would you take as your date? You can pick anyone, because it's magical!
5. What is your favorite place to shop for clothes?
6. What countries have you visited? If none, what countries would you like to visit?
7. Have you been on a cruise? If so, where did you go? If not, do you want to go on one, after all of the dramatic cruise incidents that have been in the news lately?
8. Where were you born?
9. What is your favorite quote?
10. What TV show do you refuse to miss watching live? (Specifically live, because I'm assuming others have a DVR and record everything like myself)
11. What food/cuisine would you eat everyday if there was no consequence? Like, weight gain, being bad for your health, or giving you a belly ache.

Enjoy!

Being social

Yesterday I told myself I would not/could not/should not/was not going to make a blog post for today and instead would work on posts for the upcoming week, run my errands, and focus on finishing my reading of Choice Theory: A New Psychology of Personal Freedom. Well, I lied to myself, because I was drawn to post after seeing the Sunday Social link up hosted by Ashley and Neely, and now I'm their newest followers!

Sunday Social

1. What is one movie you are terrified to watch?
The Strangers! I went to see the movie in theaters, came home to my apartment totally freaked out, and somebody knocked on our front door at after midnight. I refused to open the door and begged my roommate not to open it either because they would get us "because we were home." Turns out, it was a neighbor of ours returning a package for our other roommate that had been left at their door by mistake. I didn't sleep a wink that night and anytime I have watched the movie since then (I love watching movies multiple times) I have had to do so with many lights on, even if it was midday and sunny out.

2. What is one TV show you have always wanted to get into but haven't yet?
It's more than one: Bones, Criminal Minds, NCIS, and Grimm. I watch a lot of TV and some of these are on when my can't miss shows are on.

3. What is one daring activity on your bucket list?
Go zip lining. I think it would be terrifying yet exhilarating and fun all at the same time.

4. Would you ever travel alone?
Yes, and I have. I've flown from RSW to MDW a couple of times on my own. I could fly on my own any day as long as I were going to meet up with a friend or family member in the city I was traveling to, or I could go totally on my own if I were traveling somewhere for a job interview. Planning a week long trip to some place by myself? That would never happen.

5. What activities do you like to do alone?
Relax, sleep, nap, shower. A longer list would be things I do not like to do alone.

Do we have any similarities?

Okay, now that I have that out of my system, back to my original to-do list.
